Darmody Architects is a practice of architects with studios located at 91 Townsend Street, Dublin 2. The practice specialises in Architecture, Urban Planning and Interiors and is built upon clearly defined principals - the need to understand with clarity the client brief, the generation of a clear vision & strategy for each project irrespective of scale, as well as the single-minded obsession with making buildings & places of the highest possible quality.

With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Tim Darmody founded the practice in 2002 and it has already established itself as one of Ireland’s foremost architectural firms. Since its inception Darmody Architects has created some of the finest examples of contemporary architecture in Ireland and has demonstrated its award-winning skills in the design and management of large-scale projects with extremely tight budget constraints. The team has been instrumental in creating a genre of innovative and dynamic projects, always achieving a vision and sense of place irrespective of scale. The practice now has a breadth of work including public sector, educational & arts, commercial, complex mixed urban developments, sensitive renovations of protected structures together with one off residential commissions.

How we work

Darmody Architects is a practice of highly creative and imaginative architects committed to designing buildings and creating spaces that are dynamic, innovative, commercially sustainable & socially responsible.

Our studio environment nurtures a refreshingly questioning approach to solving problems which in turn yields dynamic responses from our designers, even to the most mundane of challenges. This design approach is very open and hands-on, allowing the entire studio to feed into the processes thus exploiting years of skill and technical maturity in solving design & urban planning issues. At all stages of project evolution we work at both ends of the scale - while 3D urban type modelling is in progress, we will simultaneously be exploring the intimate technical details of the façade composition.

Our open and vibrant studio space works very much as a fun yet productive place - a type of creative factory meets social interaction. Within the studio environment the lack of overt hierarchy makes for a fluid & stimulating creative environment which consequently can be measured by the positive and exciting designs which emerge.
